As a long-term resident, I’ve seen how much clean streets shape daily life in a neighborhood. Columbia Heights is beautiful, and the city needs to do more to keep it that way.

As commissioner, I will:

• Organize regular block cleanups and get volunteers free supplies through DPW’s Helping Hands program, so neighbors who already pick up after their block have backup.
• Track trash and illegal dumping complaints in our district and take the ones that stall straight to city agencies. When that’s not enough, I’ll use the ANC’s “great weight” to force answers out of the city, because agencies are legally required to respond to our resolutions in writing.
• Work with DC Health’s rodent control team on block-by-block rat abatement, and push for rat-resistant trash cans and enforcement where problems keep coming back.
